Dear lovely woman,
I come with an invitation. But before I go there, let’s come here:
“Liberation is always in part a storytelling process: breaking stories, breaking silences, making new stories. A free person tells her own story. A valued person lives in a society in which her story has a place.”
— Rebecca Solnit, The Mother of All Questions
A free person tells her own story.
But what is the story you’re telling (and living) — about yourself, about your life?
In her brilliant comedy special Nanette, Hannah Gadsby said, “You learn from the part of the story you focus on.”
She also shared how, for decades, she had focused on the painful parts of her story — keeping herself caught in a trauma loop. Until, one day, she chose to tell it differently. To speak of what hurt her, yes — but also to reassemble her story in a way that transmuted pain into potency.
It’s not helpful to focus only on the pain — just as it isn’t helpful to focus only on the positive, without acknowledging the parts of us that still carry wounds.
This is what the Tamalpa Life/Art Process, an embodied psychology methodology of somatic movement and expressive arts, offers us: embodied and creative ways to be with our stories. Not just to break silences, but to break our stories open — and put them back together in new ways. More spacious ways. Life-giving ways. Ways that liberate us instead of keeping us tethered to the past.
And this is what I want to offer you:
A space to be with your stories — through your body, your voice, your authentic expression.
Held in community.
A space where your story has a place.
“We are volcanoes. When we women offer our experience as our truth, as human truth, all the maps change. There are new mountains.”
— Ursula K. Le Guin
Our Women’s Therapy Group begins Tuesday, July 1st, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM (Pacific Time) on Zoom.
We’ll meet for four consecutive weeks, with a possible in-person closing circle in Los Angeles on July 29th.
Each week, we’ll gather, check in, and explore what it means to engage with our stories — and share them — grounded on the Tamalpa Life/Art Process:
✨ somatic movement
✨ expressive dance
✨ image-making
✨ poetic, reflective, and narrative writing
✨ empathic witnessing and collaborating
Our voice isn’t just the sound that leaves our mouths. It moves through gesture, rhythm, color, texture, breath.
I invite you to join me in this group so that, together, we can listen — to ourselves and to each other — and restore a deeper sense of integrity and belonging.
If you’d like to join, you can register here:
